The museum is located opposite Lake Bolsena, north of Capodimonte, with the entrance right on Via Regina Margherita and on the tree-lined lakeside avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon entering you find yourself facing the ticket office, with a small corner dedicated to a bookshop. You then enter an \"introductory hall\" where films were originally planned to be shown; today these have been integrated into three tablets along the exhibition route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next is the \"pirogue room,\" where the wooden artifact is housed in a crystal case above a crystal floor that recreates the effect of water and the lakebed. A large photograph of Lake Bolsena is mounted on the back wall to give the impression of being right at the site where the pirogue was found. On the opposite wall are two contextual maps and a small case containing a Bronze Age fishing net weight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proceed to the \"wooden models and tile hull\" room, where you can admire scale reproductions of vessels ranging from the Bronze Age to historical times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A short distance further is the small \"mediath\u00e8que\" room, today a tactile room, where fishing net weights from various periods are on display , along with baits and oil and acetylene lamps. Opposite is a \"reading room and library\" with a computer corner and internet access to consult databases on underwater archaeology and naval architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, the large \"conference room\" dedicated to Vittorio Fanelli houses all the other boats that sailed in inland waters and historically mark the evolution of the fishing boat, starting from the \u201cnaue\u201d of Posta Fibreno, the structural link between the pirogue and the traditional boat due to the absence of a load-bearing framework, and including the Fondi boat, the Bolsena Lake boat, and the Trevignano boat. You can also see another historic racing boat, the Sabatina 22 from Lake Bracciano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This large room can be divided into two with a large sliding wooden partition to create a dedicated space for temporary exhibitions and small conferences right beside the ticket office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
